New Collaboration between Helen Davison and Amanda Hunt

Here’s a new collaboration between Helen Davison and Amanda Hunt – it’s called “London by Night”.

Helen painted the background in acrylics and ink and then sent the canvas to me. I then added the foreground layer in acrylics. This is a unique way of working with no communication between the artists, each adding their own character and inspiration to the painting. The end result is a truly distinctive piece of art.

I really enjoyed the challenge of this piece as the colours Helen chose for the background are unlike anything I would normally use. It made me think a little differently and I am really pleased with the result.

Art in the Street, Maidenhead

The date for the next Art in the Street Sale in Maidenhead has just been announced. It will be on Saturday 7th May and I’ve just heard that I have been successful in getting a stand! There will be around 60 artists displaying and selling some of their latest works. The market will be open from 10am to 4pm and more details can be found on the official website: www.maidenheadartmarket.org

New Artwork

Thought I’d share with you a picture of my newest painting – Japanese Blossom.
I love chinese and japanese artwork with garden flowers and cherry blossom and was inspired to try a variation of my own. I was also thinking ahead to Spring (wishful thinking maybe!) when there is always a fantastic display of cherry blossom all down my road. The first true sign that spring has arrived and summer is on it’s way. Not long to wait now!

Andrea and Aitch in Etsy Treasury!

Today I discovered that both myself and fellow Rogue Gene member, Andrea Farmer , have had one of our pieces of art selected for a Treasury on Etsy. Getting your art in a treasury is a boost to your self esteem as it reinforces the worth of your work when fellow art lovers are show-casing it on your behalf. It is also a really useful way of getting a lot of extra promotion since a lot of the time, Etsy users (both sellers and buyers) use twitter and other social networking applications on a regular basis.

I found out first of from reading an email message from the curator of the Treasury, michellpryorart. Then I saw a link on Facebook to Andrea’s latest personal blog post mentioning the fact that we were both featured in the same Treasury.

Chelmsford Arts Trail 2010

My Arts Trail exhibition is now installed at Goldsmith Webb Opticians, 19 Market Road, Chelmsford. Please do pop by and take a look at my ethereal and coastal landscape work if you are in the area. The whole trail looks set to be very exciting with a diverse range of work for sale and lots of special events.

You can collect an Arts Trail brochure from any of the venues taking part (look out for the numbered stickers and posters in their window) or from Interior Angle Gallery, 23 Wells Street, Chelmsford. The trail runs until Sunday 26th September 2010.

Aitch at Burton Constable Hall

This weekend I will be exhibiting and selling my smaller range of artworks and gifts at the Burton Constable Country Fair. From 10am to 5pm on Sunday 11th July you can find me in the Old Riding School within the grounds of the Hall in Sproatley, East Yorkshire. In total, 18 members of ERA (East Riding Artists) will be taking part and as I have no idea who the others are, I may well meet some new associates!

I have been working on getting together a decent amount of small affordable items to sell as I think they will be more appealing at this sort of event. I am currently working on 3 more magnetic shopping pads and a hardback note-book. I have ordered plenty of new cellophane bags in which to display and sell these and am waiting for their delivery.

These are the ones I have already created and I have since made a few more in a similar style. If I don’t sell them all at the weekend I will be putting them up on my Etsy shop and my personal website too.

Here are some photos from the exhibition we held at Pinder Hall in Cookham last weekend. You will notice that there are also one or two non-Rogue Gene Collective artists included, which really helped to create an interesting and varied exhibition.
