Mother’s Day was over a week ago now, but as my mum was ill on the day itself and for several days afterwards, too, I had to wait a week to give her her presents and card. So on Sunday 21st March we celebrated Mother’s Day by cooking a favourite spaghetti bolognese recipe of ours for my parents. We started the meal with olives, ciabatta bread and an olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip, then had the spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread and finished with a raspberry pavlova – all in all, a very enjoyable evening.
I decided to go completely hand-made for my gifts this year – it’s often tricky finding a gift that won’t be wasted, so I made some more white chocolate and cranberry fudge, the same as I featured in my personal blog at Christmas here.
I also made her a magnetic note-pad, similar to the ones I’ve been stocking in my Etsy shop lately. I stupidly forgot to take a photo of it before I wrapped it up, but it was a combination of gold and green colours very similar to my paintings Green Opulence 1 and Green Opulence 2, with an emerald green ribbon tying the note-pad onto the board itself.
The card I made this year was taken from a web-site I discovered in Stumbleupon and I made a note of it as I really wanted to try it out. The link to the web-site is here, and you can see my version of it in these images:
