Pink Fish

Knitted Pink Fish

I really enjoyed the C4 series ’Kirstie’s Homemade Home’ and found myself inspired by Kirstie Allsopp to re-visit some old crafts from my past.

First on the agenda was to dig out my old knitting needles and wool. I loved the draught excluder that Kirstie featured in the program which was made by a very talented lady named Suzie Johnson from The Wool Sanctuary. I felt maybe that project was a bit ambitious for me, having not knitted for about 20 years, so I started small with the pink sequin fish (shown above).

Next on the list was candle making. I purchased a starter candle making kit from eBay and spent a happy Sunday afternoon boiling up wax pellets! Inspired by Kirstie, I used a variety of old containers and tea cups to create my homemade candles. It was messy work, pouring hot wax and adding the wicks, but I was pleased with the results!

I’m currently working on a crewel embroidery. I’ve just purchased a macrame kit from eBay which is a future project.  I also have my heart set on enrolling in a pottery or glass blowing course later this year. More soon . . .
